2. Heritage Tour Full-Ride Scholarship Opportunity
At Reconnecting Roots, we believe that every adoptee should have the opportunity to explore their heritage and deepen their connection with Chinese culture. To support this mission, we are proud to offer the Heritage Tour Full-Ride Scholarship, a program that annually provides eight deserving individuals with a fully funded experience to join our transformative 2-week Heritage Tour.
About the Scholarship
The Heritage Tour Full-Ride Scholarship is designed to make our enriching journey accessible to adoptees who are passionate about reconnecting with their roots but may face financial barriers. By covering the entire cost of the program, we aim to open doors for more participants to experience the profound personal growth that comes from exploring one's ancestral homeland.
What the Scholarship Includes
Round-Trip International Airfare: Full coverage of flights to and from China.
Domestic Transportation: All in-country flights, trains, and ground transportation.
Accommodations: Comfortable hotel stays throughout the tour.
Meals: All meals included, featuring a mix of local and regional cuisines.
Program Activities: Access to all excursions, workshops, and cultural experiences outlined in the tour itinerary.
Travel Insurance: Comprehensive coverage for the duration of the trip.
Visa Fees: Reimbursement for China visa application fees.
Eligibility Criteria
Adoptee of Chinese Heritage: Must be an individual adopted from China.
Age Requirement: Applicants must be 16 years or older.
Demonstrated Interest: Show a genuine desire to connect with your Chinese heritage.
Financial Need: Indicate financial circumstances that would otherwise prevent participation in the Heritage Tour.
Academic Performance: Academic achievements may also be considered in the selection process. Applicants are encouraged to highlight their academic accomplishments.
Application Process
Step 1: Submit an Application
Application Form: Complete the scholarship application form available on our website.
Personal Statement: Write an essay (500-750 words) explaining why reconnecting with your heritage is important to you and how the Heritage Tour will impact your life.
Transcript:
References: Provide at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or community leader who can speak to your character and aspirations.
Academic Records: Submit a copy of your most recent academic transcript or a summary of your academic achievements in the past two years.
Financial Documentation: Submit proof of financial need, such as a statement of income or a letter explaining your financial situation.
Step 2: Participate in an Interview
Interview Invitation: Selected applicants will be invited to a virtual or in-person interview.
Discussion Topics: Be prepared to discuss your personal journey, interest in Chinese culture, and what you hope to gain from the Heritage Tour.
Step 3: Selection and Notification
Review Process: All applications and interviews will be carefully reviewed by our scholarship committee.
